Plumbing Repairs @ The Rebuilding Center
October 3 @ 6:00 pm – 8:30 pm

Come learn how to fix common plumbing problems without having to hire a plumber. Leaky faucets, running toilets, cracked fixtures, dripping drains… these things happen all the time. We’ll cover repairs as well as replacement of sink faucets and drains, water supply hoses, and toilets.

Whether you’re a homeowner, renter, or remodeler, you’ll want to DIY the crap out of these simple fixes! (Water-saving kits for each student are also generously provided by the Portland Water Bureau.)

Repair Fair @ Garden Home Community Library
October 4 @ 5:00 pm – 7:30 pm

Repair Fairs are free events where volunteers provide repair service on a variety of things, from clothes to small appliances to bicycles. They are organized by RepairFair.org and take place at Portland area libraries and community centers. View the event details on Facebook.

 

Women’s* Intro to Electrical @ The Rebuilding Center
October 5 @ 9:30 am – 12:30 pm

Learn how to safely install or replace outlets, switches, and light fixtures. These simple skills can save you tons on an electrician’s bill or a home remodel, or even bring an old lamp back to life. Lots of hands-on practice along with loads of info to help you decide which projects to tackle yourself, and when to ask for expert help. Registration Required.

Women’s classes are a safe and supportive learning environment specifically for women to develop carpentry and related skills.

Join for a hands-on opportunity to flex your repair skills, or learn some new ones! Fix and tune up well-loved loaner tools with the guidance of NEPTL volunteers. All skill levels welcome, though some familiarity with tools is helpful. Show up, dive in, make some friends, and learn about repair!

Beginner Bike Maintenance @ Gracie’s Wrench
October 13 @ 8:30 am – 1:00 pm

A course covering basic bike maintenance and adjustments. Tools, space and work stands are provided for the courses. Students bring their bicycles, parts, rags and eagerness to learn. Mistakes are welcome as they provide an opportunity to see what can go wrong and how to fix it, as well as extra experience in a supportive environment.
Cost: $150 per student. Parts not included but students get 15% off all purchases.

Repair Clark County is a free event where volunteers provide repair services on a variety of items, from clothes to small appliances to bicycles. Gresham Repair Cafe @ Gresham Library
October 26 @ 10:00 am – 12:30 pm

Get your broken items fixed by community volunteers for free.  The City of Gresham and Coalition of Neighborhood Associations are teaming up to bring people with repair skills together to help neighbors fix their broken items. Find out more about what items to bring or view event details and RSVP on Facebook.
